(no subject)

Does anyone else think that everything is so over packaged these days, it occurred to me,yet again, yesterday as my husband was opening his Fathers Day gifts that there is so much waste involved in the way things a packed and presented...I have thought this for many years and have writen a number of letters to some of the larger manufacturers of various things including children toys, cosmetics, frozen and chilled food, I gave up in the end because I didn't get a single reply. Quite often the prettiest part on a product ends up in the bin and I can't help wondering how long we can continue abusing the planets resourses this way......how many trees are felled each year to make a tube of mascara look more attactive? or a tray of chilled pasta look more tasty. I feel guilty about the amount of stuff that I through out, even though I recycle as much as I can and the hotel recycles all of its empty beer and wine bottles and all of the newspapers we buy daily for the residents...still its a drop in the ocean.
