Monday I drove my husbands 2 sisters, brother-in-law, niece and nephew to Stansted Airport, they flew back to Italy after a 2 week holiday with us (in fact the nephew had been here for 2 months) I can't say it has been a pleasure to have them here because it hasn't, I like my sisters-in-law, I have known them since we were all very young.....but they don't interest me, is that awful? I don't know, they are always having headaches, I find this very boring and they don't like loud music....which I can't live without, so I'm quite glad the holiday is over and I can breathe freely again.
We are going to Italy on Friday we were only going for a week but mr ffiondove has a friend who can help out at the hotel so now we are going until the 31st which means I will miss mrs sean beans visit to Cardiff, I am very disappointed about this but there is nothing to be done, mr ffiondove thought he was giving us a nice surprise saying we could stay over for the extra days and really he is but I was looking forward to meeting msb very much. We are not staying with the family we are going further south to our favourite place Cirella in Calabria. I have just been called to help with breakfasts....shit!

No, it isn't. Nobody says you have to adore your sister-in-laws (or any other part of your family for that matter).

There are parts of my family that I couldn't care less about - and I'm fine with it! I know I sound like a bitch - and in this case; I am *g*

I do my best with them but they are hust so different from me, thats not to say I'm perfect but we have nothing in common except my husband.

You can't make yourself interested in people - I had exactly the same problem with the mothers at C's school, I couldn't bring myself to care about their boob jobs and personal trainers so I just gave up in the end. Although it sometimes worries me that most of my good friends (with one or two noteable exceptions) are single and childless!

I had the same problem at the school gates my eyes would glaze over as they started to discuss potty training, teething probs and nappie rash, I ended up staying in the car until my good friend Bubbles started her kids at the same school then I had someone to talk rubbish with.

Absolutely not. Just because they're family it doesn't mean that you have to like them. The old adage of "You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family" is so true. That especially applies to in-laws, when you fall in love with your partner, then realise (in my case) that his family are self centred basket cases.

Its so true that you can't choose your relatives, I love most of mine and there is not one of them I actively dislike, my sisters-in-law are not terrible people but they are just NEVER any fun.
I can't wait for the hols but am fed up not to see Lynz Bean.

Well, it's nice to catch up with family, but sometimes it's also nice when they finally go away! I don't think it's awful that you aren't interested in them - just because they're family doesn't necessarily mean you want to spend time with them. And they'd never survive at my place, not liking loud music!
